Call For Entries: Torpedo Factory Art Center

The Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Target Gallery has two upcoming exhibition opportunities that your professors and students may have an interest in applying for. Our annual Open Exhibition call for proposals which offers a chance at a solo exhibition with catalog, and a juried exhibition, Push Pull Play, which focuses on the art of the toy, which has a deadline of February 6.

2012 Open Exhibition - Deadline for Entry: February 1st, 2012
Exhibition Dates: August 4 - September 2, 2012

This is an Open Call for proposals for an exhibition in the summer of 2012. This call is open to all artists from North America working in all visual media. Proposals for exhibitions by both individuals and groups will be considered. The individual or group associated with the chosen proposal will receive a solo exhibition at the Target Gallery from August 4 - September 2, 2012. The artist/s will also receive a stipend and an exhibition catalog. Our juror's for this years Open Exhibition are Jack Rasmussen, Catriona Fraser, and David Page.

Push Pull Play - Deadline for Entry: February 6th, 2012
Exhibition Dates: April 12 - May 13, 2012

In celebration of VA Commission for the Arts Minds Wide Open Celebration <http://www.artsva.org/> of Children and the Arts, the gallery will host an exhibition that focuses on interactive, kinetic, toy inspired art. This is an all media show that examines the art of the toy, open to all artists nationally and internationally.

Prescott Trudeau is the full-time Curator of Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA) <http://www.cmany.org/> , a non-profit museum located in Lower Manhattan. The museum’s mission is to extend the benefits of the arts to all children and their communities and does so through a variety of programs, including professional exhibitions of both adult’s and children’s artwork.
