Call for Artists: Athenaeum ArtSpace

Application Deadline: Noon, June 5, 2009
Show Date: July 2009


The Athenaeum ArtSpace, Indy’s newest art venue, is seeking local, family-friendly, emerging, and unknown artists for commission-free exhibitions.

Each exhibition opens on IDADA First Friday and continues approximately three weeks. Artists of all media are encouraged to submit work for these juried exhibitions.
  • Artist should reside in Marion or one of the seven surrounding counties.
  • Artist should be capable of demonstrating the completion of two semesters of formal art studies or be capable of demonstrating at least three years of art production.
  • Artist has not displayed artwork in the IDADA downtown art districts unless the display was part of a special event like “Visual Fringe” or other one-time special displays (less than 30 days).
  • Artist will demonstrate an enrollment with IAC within 10 days prior to any display. (this is a no cost enrollment).
For the July 5 exhibit, submissions should include the following information and should be received by June 5 at 5:00pm:
  • Name
  • Address
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Bio/Resume
  • CD containing 10-20 images (no less than 300 dpi, 600x800)
  • Accompanying Title List with CD, numbered accordingly and including title, medium, dimensions, and year
  • DO NOT include name on title list - all submissions are juried

Call to Artists - Zionsville Autumn Arts Fair

The Zionsville Chamber of Commerce, Zionsville Arts Initiative and Zionsville Merchants Association will be sponsoring the Zionsville Autumn Arts Fair on Saturday, October 10, 2009, 10 am to 6 pm. Held in conjunction with annual Chili Cook-off, the juried art fair will be held in downtown Zionsville along Elm Street, adjacent to Lions Park.

Artists must be able to supply their own tents and display equipment. Booth fees are $100.00 for entry before June 15, 2009. After June 15th, entry fee is $125.00. Artists are invited to submit three digital images (no print images please), resume and first person artist statement/bio to RHHill81866@aol.com before June 15th.

Dreaming in Vivid Color opens tonight at the Indianapolis Art Center

Dreaming in Vivid Color opens tonight featuring works from the 2007-08 round of Creative Renewal Fellows. The opening is free and open to the public and will be catered by the Jazz Kitchen. Drink are available for purchase, free to Art Center members.

There are performances throughout the evening in the Frank M. Basile Auditorium. The schedule is as follows:

6:40 - 7:10 Program announcements including announcing the new 2009-10 Fellows
7:10 - 7:40 Readings by Jim Simmons, Candace Denning, Barb Shoup, and David Shumate

In addition Tom Robertson will be hosting an improv workshop from 7:00 - 9:00 (studio to be determined) and Jari Sheese will be doing a flame-working demo from 7:00 - 8:00 (studio to be determined).

This event is in conjunction with the Spring Broad Ripple Gallery Tour which runs from 5:00 - 10:00 pm.

One print file measureing 33" x 44" (I am unsure of the height) and having "quite a few drawers" is available for Sale. James Weir is offering them for $200. If you are interested contact him at (317) 846-3727.

They are from a downsizing architecture firm.
