Call to Artists: 22nd Annual McNeese National Works on Paper Exhibiton

The Abercrombie Gallery located in the Shearman Fine Arts Center at the McNeese State University Department of Visual Arts is accepting entries for their juried works on paper exhibition. All residents of the US are eligible to submit original work made in the last two years. Work in any media on paper, including photography, is eligible. $20 entry fee for up to two works. $3000 in purchase prizes. Juror: Joy Glidden - Director of Lousiana Artworks in New Orleans, LA.

Call to Artists: 2009 Seen and Heard: National Student Expression Contest and Exhibit

The McCormick Freedom Museum in Chicago, IL is currently accepting applications for its 2009 Seen and Heard: National Student Expression Contest and Exhibit. The call is for expressions of teenage individual to submit their views on contemporary political or social issues. Eligible media are film, editorial cartoons, web design, or photojournalism. $6000 dollars in prizes, $1000 grand prize.

Emerging Artist Residency Program

Residency Dates: August 17, 2009 - May 20, 2010
Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA


VCU's Department of Craft and Material Studies is seeking qualified applicants for its Emerging Artist Residency Program. Recent MFA (since 2005) graduates are being sought to continue their studio practice. Ceramic, glass, fiber, metal, and wood artists working in new and innovative ways are eligible to apply.

Fellows will receive:
  • 24 hour access to a 500 square foot studio
  • An apartment at the Plant Zero Arts Complex in Richmond, VA
  • Up to a $12,000 stipend (depending on class load)
  • Teaching experience at VCU
  • An Exhibition at the Fine Arts Building Gallery or Quirk Gallery's Vault Space
  • 24 hour access to VCU facilites in your area of focus
Responsibilities Include:
  • Teach up to two classes per semester in the Department of Craft and Materials Studies (This requires 2-4 days per week for two semesters)
  • Present a public lecture

Call to Artists:Artlink 29th Annual National Print Exhibition

Show Dates: April 17 - May 20, 2009
Ft. Wayne, IN


Artlink Contemporary Art Gallery is calling for all artists 18 and older, residing in the U.S. to enter their juried Printmaking competition. All original printmaking media are eligible. No photography, computer generated or digitally altered prints will be accepted.

Mary Brodbeck is the juror. She is an artist and educator specializing in the traditional methods of Japanese woodblock printmaking. For more info on the juror go to www.MaryBrodbeck.com.

Cash awards totaling $2500 will be presented. Winners will be listed in the exhibiton catalogue.

Member Updates

Vandra Pentecost received two Honorable Mentions for drawing, and a 1st, 2nd & Honorable Mention for computer art in the Indiana State Fair Professional Division. She also had work in the Salon De Refuse exhibit at the Hoosier Salon.

Ellie Siskind's acrylic painting Lipstick-Allie juried into the 2008 Whitewater Valley Art Competition at Indiana University East (Richmond, IN). Call to Artists: 28th Annual Lakefront Art Festival

Show Dates: August 15 - 16, 2009
Washington Park, Michigan City, IN

The Lubeznick Center for the Arts is calling for artists to submit applications for the 28th Annual Lakefront Art Festival. This art fair is held in a park setting on the shore of Lake Michigan. Attracting thousands of visitors the park is accessible to motorists, cyclists, foot traffic, and boaters. Artists must submit an application fee of $25. Booth fee $125 - option to purchase multiples allowed. Returning artists from 2008 are exempt from jury as long as they submit in the same media.

Peggy Breidenbach receives Commission

Peggy Breidenbach, Art Center ceramics faculty and artist, recently completed a commission for the Telamon Corporation in Carmel, Indiana. Their owner discovered her work at the 2008 Broad Ripple Art Fair and commissioned her.
