Call For Entries: Carroll Harris Simms National Black Art Competition and Exhibition

ENTRY FORM INFORMATION

Entry Deadline: October 22, 2011 until 5:00 p.m.

Participants must submit:
-Entry card along with a self-addressed stamped envelope for return.
-Images of the artwork will be accepted in either on slide or cd format
-Cd
-PDF or Jpeg format only
-Digital Submission Only

Include on slide artist’s name, title of work, completion date, medi-um, size, and entry number. Slides will not be accepted An artist’s statement and current bib-liographical information
Entries Must Be Received By October 22, 2011.
Final entrants will be notified October 31. Accepted work must be received by November 17. Upon receipt of the artwork, withdrawal will not be allowed from the exhibition.

Eligibility:
The Biennial exhibition is open to all African American artists residing in the United States.
Types of Work Accepted: painting, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, printmaking, photography
Rules:An artist must have pro-duced the work within the last two years and be over the age of eighteen. No collaborative works will be accepted. Each artist will pay a non-refundable entry fee of $5.00 per entry, $20.00 for four entries. Check or mon-ey order should be payable to the African American museum. Each artist may submit up to four actual pieces regardless of category or categories entered. All work submitted must be for sale and available for exhibition. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 6’ x 6’ in any direction and may be repre-sented by one slide. All work must be suitably mounted, framed, and sup-ported with wire or metal ring hanging devices only. Oil paintings must be dry; pastels and watercolors must be under Plexiglas. Three-dimensional work must not exceed 6’ in any direction and may be represented in three slides.
Individual works submitted should not exceed a gross weight of 100 pounds.

Awards:
$500.00 awarded to an artist in each of the following categories: painting, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, printmaking and photography.
One work is chosen from the category winners as the Best in Show artist. This artist wins the oppor-tunity to have a one-artist show in the two years following the competition. The Best in Show artist agrees to donate a piece of their work to the muse-um’s permanent collection.
