IAC
instructor Dan Cooper invites you to attend the opening reception for
“Seasons”, his one-artist show at Gallery 924 on Friday, June 1, 2012, from
6:00-9:00pm. The show runs through June 30.
Seasons mark nature’s phases. We remember the past and anticipate the future,
but we exist in the present. Cooper’s work combines science and art –
especially astronomy & physics with belief & hope. He says, “Studying
excites my imagination to transform aspects of theoretical physics into visual
symbols. A Midwestern sensibility influences my use of landscape and human
figures to express abstract concepts.”
Just as we recognize four seasons, four mediums are used to convey the illusive
nature of time: paintings, drawings, photography, and video. “Seasons” explores
time of year, time of day, past & future, and the barrier of now. Time for
adventure!
Bovary Taritas and Justin Lahr have collaborated with with Cooper to create a
painting, art video, and a live performance. Bovary wrote a poem about his work
which is transformed into a painting and video. Justin Lahr created music used
in the art video. They will be performing “Seasons” during the opening
reception at 7pm.
