The Arts Council of Indianapolis will once again offer a new round of the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship program. Originally conceived as a renewal opportunity similar to an academic sabbatical, this nationally recognized and groundbreaking initiative offers 40 artists and arts administrators the opportunity to renew and refresh creativity through a two-year fellowship with a cash award of $10,000 each. Since the program's inception, 290 artists and administrators have been awarded fellowships through this initiative. The Arts Council of Indianapolis has awarded more than $2 million in direct-dollar support to artists and administrators since 1999. The program is funded by a grant to the Arts Council through the extraordinary generosity of Lilly Endowment Inc.

Dreaming in Vivid Color opens tonight at the Indianapolis Art Center

Dreaming in Vivid Color - Indianapolis Arts Council Creative Renewal Fellows 2007-08

Dreaming in Vivid Color opens tonight featuring works from the 2007-08 round of Creative Renewal Fellows. The opening is free and open to the public and will be catered by the Jazz Kitchen. Drink are available for purchase, free to Art Center members.
There are performances throughout the evening in the Frank M. Basile Auditorium. The schedule is as follows:
6:00 - 6:30 Becky Archibald Group
6:30 - 6:40 Ju Fang Liu
6:40 - 7:10 Program announcements including announcing the new 2009-10 Fellows
7:10 - 7:40 Readings by Jim Simmons, Candace Denning, Barb Shoup, and David Shumate
7:40 - 8:00 Shannon Forsell
In addition Tom Robertson will be hosting an improv workshop from 7:00 - 9:00 (studio to be determined) and Jari Sheese will be doing a flame-working demo from 7:00 - 8:00 (studio to be determined).
This event is in conjunction with the Spring Broad Ripple Gallery Tour which runs from 5:00 - 10:00 pm.
