The Capital Grille Launches Third Annual Wine Label Design Contest
Proceeds to Benefit Share Our Strength; Winner to Travel to Napa Valley
(August 29, 2011, New York, NY) – Artists everywhere are invited to enter the third annual Artist Series Wine Label Design competition hosted by The Capital Grille ― the nationally renowned fine-dining restaurant known for its dry-aged, hand-carved steaks, fresh seafood and award-winning wine list. With a focus on once again uniting the worlds of fine wine and fine art, the winning piece of original artwork will grace bottles of a specially blended wine across the United States.
In addition, The Capital Grille will donate a portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold to Share Our Strength and its mission to end childhood hunger in America. Over the past two years, sales of the Artist Series wine resulted in over $420,000.00 donated to the charity.
From August 22 through October 7, submissions of original artwork will be considered in a search for a wine label design for The Capital Grille’s exclusive Artist Wine Label Series. This limited production Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon is made by acclaimed winemaker Ted Edwards of Freemark Abbey Vineyard, who has been crafting world-class wines in Napa Valley for over 30 years. Miliotes, Master Sommelier for The Capital Grille, worked alongside Edwards to blend a distinctive Cabernet originating from grapes grown in the famed Stagecoach and Bosche vineyards.
“We created The Capital Grille Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon to provide our guests with the incomparable opportunity to experience a wine that is lively, sophisticated and intensely aromatic, to best complement the flavors found on our menu. With this extended length of flavor, you can’t stop with just one glass,” said Miliotes, one of only 180 Master Sommeliers in the world.
In addition to the prestige and publicity from having artwork displayed on these limited edition bottles of wine, this year’s winning artist will also receive from The Capital Grille a case of the wine and an all-expenses paid, four day/three night trip to Napa Valley to enjoy personalized tours of some of the world’s top wineries. For more information on how to enter, visit www.TheCapitalGrille.com, beginning August 22.
The Capital Grille Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon will be available exclusively at all 45 locations of The Capital Grille, and will complement The Capital Grille’s award-winning wine program, which is routinely recognized by Wine Spectator magazine. Featuring more than 350 Old and New World selections housed in floor-to-ceiling, temperature-controlled wine kiosks, The Capital Grille’s wine offerings also include a Captain’s List of 125 collector wines. Guests also have the opportunity to lease a wine locker, personalized with an inscribed brass nameplate.
