The Carnegie is pleased to announce its participation in FOTOFOCUS, a biennial, month-long celebration of historical and contemporary photography and lens-based art slated for October 2012.

ABOUT THE CARNEGIE’S REGIONAL PHOTO COMPETITION
The Carnegie’s regional photography competition aims to showcase the best photographers from our region. Approximately 50 photographers will be selected by a panel of judges for the show. ELIGIBILITY
Any artist 18 years of age or older living in Kentucky, Ohio, or Indiana

ENTRY FEE
$25, non-refundable. Includes up to five images. Artists may submit more than one application.

ENTRY DEADLINE
Friday March 26, 2012

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Images, a maximum of five per application, should be submitted on a disk as JPEGs with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
The disk should also contain a WORD document with the artist name, title, size, and medium for each image.
Work may include other media as long as the photo is the primary focus of the finished work. No video or electronic media will be accepted.
Work previously shown at The Carnegie is not eligible.
All images must have been created within the past three years.
All work must be professional framed and presented.

JUDGING
A panel of distinguished judges will review all entries. Judges will be kept anonymous until the opening of the exhibition. Finalists will be notified and invited to a second judging session, using the actual works. Judges reserve the right to eliminate entries during the second round if the work does not meet the quality they seek.

AWARDS
Cash and purchase awards will be presented. All purchase awards and sales are subject to a 35% commission. Cash Awards are exempt. All work must be for sale. The retail value should include the commission rate.

SHIPPING AND DELIVERY OF WORK
Artists are responsible for the delivery, installation and removal of their work. Accepted work may be shipped or dropped off at The Carnegie. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, including post-exhibition.

INSURANCE
All work will be fully insured while at The Carnegie.

ELEGIBILITY
Any artist living in the United Sates. All styles and media are eligible. Note: Any artist who has been previously awarded a solo show at The Carnegie must wait three years before applying again, however, you may apply for a group and/or themed show during that period.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Solo Exhibition: Ten images of a consistent body of work submitted on a disk as JPEGs with a resolution of at least 300 dpi; $25 entry fee (Carnegie Members $20) and completed 2013 Exhibition Season Application.

Group Exhibition: (Two or more artists) – Twenty images representing all artists who will be showing in the exhibition on a disk as JPEGs with a resolution of at least 300 dpi; $40 entry fee (Carnegie members $35) and completed 2013 Exhibition Season Application. A one-page typed statement may be submitted to convey the purpose or details of the show. Please list one primary contact person.

The Art of Food: A special exhibition celebrating food as an art form. Artists are asked to submit proposals pertaining to art created form or inspired by food. Drawings or short written statements on the proposed creations may be included. There is no entry fee.

IMAGES
A WORD document containing artist name, titled, size and medium for each image submitted should be included on the disk.

JUDGING
A panel of three distinguished anonymous judges will independently evaluate all entries submitted for solo and group shows. Scores will be combined from the individual ratings. Top scoring artists will be awarded show contracts for the upcoming season. Artists who are awarded shows will be notified by mail. A contract will shortly follow outlining details of the awarded show.

About this year's theme Vibrant and vibrate have the same latin root word: “vibrare” meaning to move rapidly and rhythmically to and fro. While vibrate means virtually the same thing in English, vibrant has additional connotations as it applies to brightness of light or color, or as in how liveliness or energetic is the given subject. Through a Lens: Vibrant! gives the photographer several options. Vibrant could apply to a light or hue in the composition, or it could apply to the subject, as to a person or in a street. It could even be stretched to apply to the process – check out the vibrance adjustment layer in photoshop. Which definition of “Vibrant!” will you choose?

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Town of Wake Forest Public Art Commission (PAC) seeks an artist or artist team to create two or more site-specific artworks that offer compelling, contextually sensitive outdoor seating to visitors to our historic downtown business district. The artworks will be located in two prominent outdoor spaces on the recently redesigned streetscape of historic White Street, the heart of Wake Forest, so the commissioned artist must design and produce sculptural seating for two discrete sites. Because of these public artworks’ highly visible locations and importance to the Wake Forest PAC, this project should strive to capture the unique character of Wake Forest and White Street while also providing a practical space for visitors of all ages to sit comfortably and enjoy our beautiful downtown area. The commissioned artist will be expected to collaborate with Town engineers and the design team responsible for implementing the Streetscape II Project, which includes the two sites for artful seating.

Twylene Moyer, managing editor of Sculpture magazine, has published numerous articles and catalogue essays on contemporary art. She has been a featured speaker at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and at SOFA Chicago and has juried and curated several exhibitions, including “Insight Out” and “Disintegration” at the Arlington Arts Center. She is the co-editor of The New Earthwork: Art, Action, Agency, A Sculpture Reader, Conversations on Sculpture, and Landscapes for Art, all distributed by the University of Washington Press.

Upcoming Event: Woodcarving at Eagle Creek

From the Eagle Creek Park Foundation:

More than a dozen woodcarvers from across the state will showcase a variety of artwork depicting wildlife, flora and fauna and/or traditional Native Americans at Eagle Creek Park's 21st annual Woodcarver & Turner Exhibit/Sale at the Earth Discovery Center, 5901 Delong Rd (Indy's northwest side) on Feb. 25-26. Artists will demonstrate how they create their various works and talk with visitors about their craft. A children’s area will also be available where kids can try their hand at carving bars of soap with various kid-friendly tools.

Many of the carvings and sculptures on display will be available for purchase. A percentage of proceeds will benefit the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, Inc, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Eagle Creek Park. In addition to the ongoing monthly artist series, this exhibit is the first of three nature-themed art shows scheduled at Eagle Creek Park for 2012.

May, 2012 – March, 2013 in Downtown Suwanee

I. PURPOSE
The Suwanee Public Arts Commission (PAC) is seeking proposals from artists and/or artist
teams for design, execution and installation of original outdoor sculptures to be displayed from
May 2012 through the end of March 2013 in downtown Suwanee. The objective is to have a
well-balanced exhibit of sculptures with a variety of styles, types, and sizes. Specific locations
will be determined depending upon submissions. The inaugural Suwanee SculpTour was
installed in May 2011 incorporating 15 pieces and was received enthusiastically by residents and

current/ongoing SculpTour.
Program goals include:
Enhance Suwanee’s downtown with an exhibit of original and unique pieces of art.
Stimulate interest in Suwanee’s public art initiative and add cultural value to the area.
Serve as an economic development tool by attracting visitors, residents, and businesses to
the area.
Generally, SculpTour locations may include the following:
Suwanee Town Center (including Town Center Park, Town Center Avenue, and side
streets connecting to Town Center Avenue).
Both entrances to the railroad underpass.
Main Street from the underpass to the commercial district near pavilion/Scales Street.

II. BACKGROUND & PROJECT/SITE OVERVIEW
A community of 16,000+ residents, the City of Suwanee is recognized as one of the premier
small municipalities in the metro Atlanta area, Georgia, and the nation. Already an awardwinning
community, recognized twice by Money Magazine as one of America’s best places to
live, the City is committed to continually enhancing our citizens’ quality of life and our
community’s long-term economic vitality.
Believing that public art plays a significant role in helping to create a well-rounded, vibrant
community, the Suwanee Public Arts Commission (PAC) was established in 2008. The PAC
was charged with enhancing the quality of life in Suwanee through public art. The group has
commissioned artwork for Suwanee’s new City Hall: a spectacular suspended sculpture created
by world-renown industrial artist Koryn Rolstad. Leading by example, the City of Suwanee set
aside 1 percent of construction costs of the new City Hall for public art. In turn, Suwanee
encourages developers to commit 1 percent of their new projects’ cost to fund public art on their

property or support public art in other locations throughout the community. This is one of many
initiatives being developed and coordinated through the PAC.
The Suwanee SculpTour was the next step in bringing public art to the area. The SculpTour
program is funded through generous donations from individuals, families, and area businesses
and serves as an economic development and tourism endeavor. The inaugural Suwanee
SculpTour was installed in May 2011 and incorporated 15 pieces.
The City’s Town Center, anchored by Town Center Park (a 10-acre urban-style park), is a
successful and highly visible mixed-use complex. The area includes more than seven acres of
park/lawn area, an interactive fountain, an amphitheater, retail shops and a residential
component. Thousands of people visit the park each year and attend its numerous concerts,
festivals, and events.
The SculpTour program will provide promotional materials marketing the exhibit, artists, and
sponsors. The public will be encouraged to explore each sculpture through walking and driving
tours to be proposed in the promotional materials.

III. ELIGIBILITY
The SculpTour program is open to artists (or teams of related disciplines) who submit an
application on time, can meet the various program requirements, and are selected to participate.
Prior experience in public art is not required.

IV. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION
The number of pieces chosen will be 10-20 depending on available funding.
The size of pieces can vary and will be located as appropriate. Potential sites are suited
for small-scale as well as large-scale sculptures (minimum height of about 30 inches).
Generally, market value of sculptures should be in the range of $5,000 to $25,000 in
order to compete in the “People’s Choice” contest (described in section VI of this RFP).
However, more expensive pieces are not discouraged from being submitted for inclusion
in the SculpTour exhibit.
All sculptures will be insured for liability and physical damage through the City of
Suwanee.
Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration. There is no fee to the artist for
submitting artwork.
All entries must be original works of the submitting artist or team of artists, however,
they do not need to have been created specifically for this exhibit.
All sculptures need to be made of durable material appropriate for outdoor (and at times
adverse) weather conditions (high winds, low temperatures, high temperatures, snow
storms, high traffic areas). Pieces should be constructed with audience safety in mind for
display in a public setting.

Most of the sculptures will be displayed on steel or concrete pedestals or pads designed to
fit the location and/or the artwork.
All sculptures must be able to be structurally secured to a steel or concrete pad with
anchor bolts or similar devices.
Artists will be responsible for the timely installation and removal of their sculpture(s).
See the timeline/schedule in section VIII of this RFP.
Artists are responsible for shipping and delivering the artwork to and from the installation
site.
Accepted entries will receive an agreement outlining further information including details
regarding delivery and installation/placement of the artwork.

V. ARTIST FEE/STIPEND/AWARDS
The artists chosen to participate in the SculpTour exhibit will receive a one-time stipend up to
$1,000 per sculpture, of which $500 will be paid within 30 days of delivery and installation of
the sculpture. The additional $500 will be given to artists for sculptures not ultimately purchased
through the program and properly removed at the end of the specified display period. Selected
sculptures must be displayed for the entire duration of the exhibit. Additionally, artists chosen to
participate will be eligible to win cash awards totaling more than $5,000 (depending on available
funding).
The artwork remains the property of the artist throughout the exhibit and reverts to the artist’s
custody at the conclusion of the exhibit. In essence, the artwork is “rented/loaned” to the exhibit.
All sculptures will be insured for liability and physical damage through the City of Suwanee.
The PAC may elect to purchase the artwork and has the right of first refusal after the exhibit
period has ended. Artists submitting proposals agree that the City of Suwanee and/or the PAC
may reproduce images of the artwork for non-commercial, educational, and promotional
purposes, with credit given to the artist when artwork is highlighted.

VI. ARTWORK SALE OPPORTUNITY
The Suwanee Public Arts Commission (PAC) and the City will promote the sale of sculptures to
the public – either for personal/commercial use or as a permanent donation to the City and/or the
PAC. Artist(s) may sell the work during the exhibition period; however, the work should remain
on site for the duration of the exhibition. The SculpTour would receive 25 percent of the
purchase price on sold sculptures and 20 percent on commissioned works. Should someone wish
to donate the piece to the PAC or should the PAC purchase the piece, the SculpTour would forgo
the 25 percent and discount the sale price by the amount equal to 25 percent.
If SculpTour funding allows, the PAC will organize an on-line voting procedure wherein visitors
of the exhibit can “vote” for their favorite sculpture – the “People’s Choice” award. Provided
funding is in place, the PAC will purchase that piece of public art for its permanent collection.
The chosen sculpture will then be displayed in one of Suwanee’s numerous public spaces or
parks. This is currently being done as part of the 2011/2012 SculpTour (please visit
www.suwanee.com/whatsnew.sculptour.php ).

VII. SELECTION PROCESS
The selection committee will be comprised of the Suwanee Public Arts Commission and
possibly other community members/artists. The committee will make a recommendation to the
Suwanee City Council.
RFP submissions will be evaluated on the following:
Originality/creativity
Appropriateness (fit, theme, etc.) to the area, City of Suwanee, etc.
General community appeal
Maintenance/longevity of the artwork; preference may be given to pieces requiring less
maintenance and better sustainability of materials
Quality of materials and execution
Ease of installation
Sale price of artwork
Other evaluation criteria not outlined above may be included as necessary

IX. APPLICATION PRESENTATION & CONTENT
Submit two (2) printed copies of all items listed below. (If a three-dimensional or textured
model is submitted, one model will be sufficient.) Each page of presentation (all submitted
materials) should clearly indicate your name and project title.
Additionally, provide one CD containing all of the items listed below in PDF, MSWord, or JPEG
(high resolution, 300 dpi minimum) format.
Present your materials in the following order:
1. Application Form (see attached form on page 6). Application must be completed in full.
2. Artist’s bio.
3. Project/sculpture title and narrative description of proposed artwork (not to exceed two
pages; maximum of about 750 words). Narrative should include origin of idea, theme,
design/creative rationale, etc. Narrative must include approximate dimensions and
weight, installation requirements, proposed materials, and any other special requirements.
4. Color photo/drawing/image/model of proposed artwork.

Artist will not be compensated for RFP submissions regardless of medium presented. All
materials submitted become the property of the Suwanee Public Arts Commission. Items will be
returned upon request. Requests for the return of submission materials must be received in
writing by March 30, 2012.
The Suwanee Public Arts Commission (PAC) reserves the right to accept or reject any and
all submittals, waive technicalities and informalities, change scope of work, and amend said
Request for Proposal as desired by the PAC. The PAC reserves the right to negotiate with
any artists and to select the artists that best meet the PAC’s needs.

This call is seeking proposals from an artist or team of artists to create a permanent work of original art for the OU Children's Atrium Entry Drive located in the heart of Oklahoma City, OK.

The artist's fees for this work-of-art has been set at $600,000 and shall include all costs of the artwork, such as travel, materials, the artist’s design, fabrication, insurance coverage, shipping, and installation. Call for Entries: Go Red For Women Contest

The American Heart Association and glo magazine are hosting a Go Red For Women© contest to design the cover of the magazine’s February 2012 issue. The contest is open to all female artists. In honor of American Heart Month in February and Go Red For Women, cover designs must include a woman or women and the color red – the rest is up to the artist! Submissions from all professional, original 2D artwork (excluding photography) are accepted and must be at 10”x 3/8” at 300 dpi resolution. Entries should be received by Jan. 11, 2012, but DEADLINE COULD BE NEGOTIABLE.

Besides having their design used on the cover of the February issue of glo, the artwork will also be used on material promoting the 2012 Go Red For Women Luncheon. In addition, the winning artist will receive two tickets to the luncheon and a Go Red gift basket containing a Swarovski pin, $25 Macy’s card and much more - valued at over $150.

Call For Entries 2013/2014 El Paseo Invitational Exhibition, Palm Desert, CA

ABOUT THE EL PASEO INVITATIONAL EXHIBITION:

El Paseo is the premier shopping street in Palm Desert and the Coachella Valley, located in Southern California. The exhibition space consists of eighteen lighted concrete pads located in the median along a one and one half mile stretch of prime retail. The artwork remains on exhibition for approximately two (2) years, with installation planned for October - November 2012 and de-installation planned for November 2014.

DEADLINE: March 5, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. (postmark/email deadline)

HONORARIUM: A $2,500 honorarium will be provided for each selected artwork. Participant is responsible for delivery and pick-up of artwork per scheduled date.

National Open Call

Art on the Trailways is a project of the Greater Greenwood Arts Council in Greenwood, Indiana in partnership with the Greenwood Parks & Recreation Department. This open call is for outdoor three-dimensional art. Awards are for a two-year loan of $3,000.

Location
Polk Hill Trail was built in 2004 as part of a greater Trails and Greenways Master Plan. It is adjacent to Smith Valley Road which is a gateway to the city of Greenwood. Surrounded by a golf course, residential homes, apartments, and condominiums, it leads to a pedestrian bridge and Craig Park. Most viewers of the artwork will be vehicular traffic, however, we would like to encourage utilization of this multi-use trail.

Project Scope and Requirements
Submission of ready to install original sculptures will be accepted through February 15th, 2012 (11 p.m. EST). Works must withstand the weather elements and be appropriate for all ages. Unstable or poorly constructed work will not be accepted. Artwork may be made available for purchase.
The artist is responsible for the following:
-Transportation to and from the site
- Installation & removal
- Insurance
- Artist fees for on‐site installation & removal
- Equipment needed for installation & removal
- Maintenance and repair, if any

Submission Requirements
Artists must be 18 years or older. We require that you submit the following digitally:

A panel of arts professionals (professor, artist, administrator, teacher) and a landscape architect will select the artwork. What will be considered will include:
- Highly durable and safe artwork preserved to withstand the natural elements
- Appropriateness and relevance of style
- Compatibility with the site, design, theme and function of the space
- Adherence to submission requirements

Additional consideration will be given to Indiana and Johnson County artists.

The Patterson Foundation is providing the design and construction of the assembly area at the Sarasota National Cemetery as a donation to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - National Cemetery Administration. In addition to the many features unique to national cemeteries, there will be a significant installation of contemporary art related to themes of military service and the families of soldiers.

The Patterson Foundation seeks professional artists with significant experience and a body of work at a recognizably high level who are interested in creating art on the themes of soldiers, veterans and their families.

All sites are exterior and subject to the extremes of Florida climate. This is not a memorial space and all of the art does not have to be realistic. Contemporary vocabularies and approaches are welcome.

Call For Entries: Art from the Heartland, a biennial Indianapolis Art Center juried exhibition.

The Indianapolis Art Center is calling for entries for artists in any medium 18 or older living in Indiana or a bordering state (including Wisconsin) for our Biennial Juried Exhibition. Cash awards total $2,500.00. Director’s Choice Award will be a Solo Show at the Indianapolis Art Center. The show will be juried by Paula Katz, Director and Curator, Herron Galleries, Herron School of Art and Design, IUPUI.

Submissions will be taken via www.callforentry.org and are due by March 1, 2012.

Entry Fee/Images:
• $25 non-refundable entry fee for the submission of two pieces.
• Each artist may submit up to two pieces of work for jurying. One detail shot of each piece may be submitted, bringing the maximum number of images allowed for submission four; two overall images and two detail shots. If more than two pieces are submitted only the first two artworks will be juried.

Eligibility:
• This exhibit is open to all artists over the age of 18 residing in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky.

The Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) on behalf of the City of Shreveport is seeking to commission an artist or artist-led design team to create a unique vision for CommonLink, Shreveport’s first interactive transportation and information substation that will serve as the hub for all forms of transportation, information, communication, and community engagement. The design of CommonLink will launch the development of Shreveport’s Cultural District, SHREVEPORT COMMON, which will transform a neglected, 9-block area in the western part of downtown Shreveport.

The selected artist will create a unique vision for the block-long CommonLink with a design that will house a bus shelter, taxi stand, shuttle stop, seating, and an interactive communication center that will provide assistance to tourists and residents alike by providing maps and historical information, giving walking, biking and transportation information, as well as recommending restaurants, events, and attractions. The successful design for CommonLink will also integrate parking for mopeds and a police car, a security “blue light”system, charging stations, ATM, Wi-Fi, green areas, innovative lighting, and bike racks that will be designed by local artists.

More than a transportation station, CommonLink is envisioned as a "transformation station" - the critical first-step in defining, developing, and populating this historic downtown cultural district. CommonLink will serve the current and future residents of SHREVEPORT COMMON, bring visitors to the area for events and tours, and create a place that not only dignifies public transportation while encouraging pedestrian and bicycle traffic, but makes it fun, exciting and informative.

The City of Bloomington through the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) is soliciting artists or artist teams for a public art project to serve as an informal gateway to BEAD's Restaurant Row Character District, the 4th Street Arts Festival Street, and the Indiana University campus. Call for Artists: White River State Park Sculpture Program

White River State Park Seeks Submissions for Outdoor Sculpture Program

White River State Park is pleased to announce that it will continue to support an exterior sculpture exhibit program. The primary purpose of this exhibition is to enhance the artistic and cultural opportunities within the state. It is hoped that residents and visitors to Indiana's capital city will appreciate and become engaged in the visual dialogue of these contemporary sculptures. Each cycle, the Park has continued to make changes to the program. The program is now open to any sculptor in Indiana or the Midwest and the Commission will pay up to a maximum of $5,000 to help with transporting the sculpture to and from Indianapolis (mileage and receipts must be provided). In addition, the park will pay an honorarium of $5,000.

The Park will continue to display at least six, large-scale exterior sculptures reflecting diversity of materials, approaches and content on the Old Washington Street Bridge (now a pedestrian walkway connecting venues on the east and west sides of the river) in White River State Park. Rather than change out all of the sculptures every two years, they are now going to only change out two or three sculptures every year and the period of time the work will be displayed will be for 3 years. The Park is the only urban state park in the country and is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. The New York Times has referred to the Park as "Indianapolis' version of the Mall in Washington." In addition to acres of green spaces the Park is home to six major tourist attractions. Over 3 million people visit the Park each year.

The work must be constructed of materials able to endure the conditions of an outdoor exhibition. The sculptures must be suitable for public display and not present safety issues.

Artists must be 18 years or older. Each selected artist will be awarded a $5,000 honorarium for his or her participation. In addition, the Park will pay up to a maximum of $5,000 in expenses to help transport the sculpture to and from Indianapolis (mileage and receipts must be provided) and the installation and removal of the piece from the Park. White River State Park carries property/physical limited insurance on the sculptures only; however, you must also insure the sculpture for any damage that may be incurred by weather or other acts of God. The Park will provide assistance for installation and dismantling. Artists will receive sign recognition near the sculpture.

Schedule: electronic images on a CD of pieces of art available for exhibition must be postmarked no later than Friday, December 9, 2011. Selected artists will be notified by January 13, 2012. Installation of work must be completed by April 13, 2012. Exhibition ends March 2015.

The submissions will be screened by a committee of individuals who are recognized in the field of contemporary art and art in public places, as well as representatives of White River State Park Commission and staff.

Please provide with your application electronic images of pieces available for the exhibition taken from several different views, labeled with name, medium, dimensions, and date and an image annotation script. If it is a work in progress, please submit a sketch or drawing; the drawing should be specific as to the material and color to be used in the pieces. Individual Artist Program Application Now Open

The Indiana Arts Commission recently announced that it is currently accepting online applications for Individual Artist Program grants.

Hoosier artists in selected disciplines may begin the online application process now through February 2, 2012.

Application guidelines and the online grant application system are currently accessible on the IAC website at http://www.in.gov/arts/individualartistprogram.htm.

Artists should be aware that the application for IAP grants will only be available through the online grant application system, and artists are encouraged to read through the guidelines before beginning the application process.

Eligible projects will only be considered in the areas of crafts, design art, media art, photography, visual arts, and folk arts related to these traditional disciplines.

Individual artists living and working in Indiana may apply for up to $2,000 from the IAP grant, which requires no matching funds. The grants are intended to assist artists with specific project-related costs that will help them further their careers, and provide public benefit through the completed project.

"Projects developed through these grants not only help artists further their careers, but also provide vehicles for their talent to be shared in their communities through exhibitions, demonstrations, and other instructional opportunities," said IAC Executive Director Lewis C. Ricci.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, must be an Indiana resident for at least one year prior to the application, and plan to remain in the state for the full grant period. Eligible artists may not be enrolled in a degree-granting program. All projects must be completed between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.

Cleveland Public Art is issuing an RFQ to find artists to develop concepts and designs for up to four two-dimensional, graphically printed murals to be installed at one of three neighborhood underpasses located in Cleveland’s Historic Gateway and Tremont neighborhoods. The designs should demonstrate understanding of individual locations and context. The final product will be a series of digitally reproducible files. Therefore, artists across disciplines are encouraged to apply. Photographic, painted, graphic and other renderings are all eligible, so long as they can be digitally transposed to the scale of the panels. Qualified third party contractors will be hired to produce and install the final artwork.

UCF’s Classroom II:

This is a “Call to Artists” for Classroom II at the University of Central Florida. The priority of this building is to provide large classrooms and auditoriums to the campus. It will be a high technology teaching space that services 2000+ students at any given time. It is anticipated that this building will have 15,000 unique visitors each day. The UCF ROTC program will be housed in this building as well. The building will have a courtyard landscaped between the current Classroom Building 1 and this new Classroom Building 2. One section of the building faces the UCF memory mall (a high traffic landscaped area) offering a very strong presence on the UCF campus.

Site for Artwork: Exterior, Rotunda and/or garden courtyard

The Selection Committee has determined that the best location for a sculpture or similar site-specific solution for Classroom II is either the Rotunda and/or the courtyard. Both can be viewed in the attachments. The dimensions for the Rotunda circumference are 17 ft . The courtyard measures approx. 30 ft.

Qualifications:

Criteria – Participating artists must have reached a certain level of expertise and recognition in their medium. Their resumes should illustrate that they have met at least two of the following criteria:
The artist’s works are included in major private, public, corporate or museum collections
The artist has received awards, grants or fellowships
The artist has completed other public commissions on a similar scale
The artist has participated in exhibitions at major museums or galleries.

Statement – A paragraph that explains why your work is perfect for this project and how the submitted image examples relate to the project requirements. This should not yet be a site-specific proposal.

The City of West Covina is seeking submissions from sculptors for the direct purchase of artwork for two public parks located within the City. The sculpture purchase program has been initiated as part of the 2011/2012 annual work plan created by the Public Art Commission to enhance visibility and the collection of permanent artworks within the City.

The City of West Covina Public Art Commission has identified potential locations within Cortez Park and Cameron Park. The City seeks works that are thematically oriented to youth/family or youth sports destinations. Placement of the artworks will be determined upon final selection and purchase of the artworks. The City will be responsible for preparation of the site, construction of foundations, installation, plaque and lighting of the artworks selected for purchase.

Eligibility
The purchase program is open to professional artists residing in the United Sates. Only existing sculpture artworks will be considered. Artists residing in or have connections to the City of West Covina are strongly encouraged to apply.

Budget
The total project budget for two sculpture purchases and installation is $60,000. It is anticipated that the maximum amount for each purchase shall not exceed $25,000 (Twenty Five Thousand Dollars.) This budget includes all costs associated with the purchase and shall include any travel, delivery costs and applicable sales tax associated with the artwork.

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 13, 2011) – The nude human figure in fine art has been both celebrated and censored, with its creation and display being influenced by academia and religion and its virtue debated by everyone.

As part of the 2011 Spirit & Place Festival – which carries the theme “The Body” – a group show at Stutz Art Space will explore the question of the art nude’s place in public venues.

The exhibition includes 33 figurative pieces by 29 artists from Indianapolis and beyond.

Roughly half of the participating artists have studios at the Stutz. They are Lydia Burris, Wendy Franklin, Jim Gerard, Travis S. Little, Karen Masbaum, Adam Noel, Polina Osherov, John Ross, Emily Schwank, Constance Scopelitis, Taylor Smith, Ed Stewart and Vicky White.

Other participants are: Mike J. Arledge, Jr., Scott Barnes, Grace Benedict, Jim Cantrell, Dan Cooper, Matthew Davey, Mark Dillman, Sylvia Gray, Don Krajewski, Charles Letbetter , Danuta Loane, Kirsten May, Jonathan McAfee, Gary Mitchell , Tom Potter and David Winge.

Responsibilities
While the internship will focus primarily on responsibilities involving the artist committee, this person would be exposed to a wide variety of duties relating to the Broad Ripple Art Fair. This would be the perfect opportunity for someone who is interested in learning about the day-to-day operations of a nonprofit organization as well as gain hands-on experience in the business of art, curatorial and arts administration areas. Duties include but not limited to assisting in the jury process, organizing and preparing materials for participating artists, assisting the artist committee in fair layout, booth placement, and artist management, serving as an area captain during the fair, other various related tasks as assigned.

Requirements
Applicant must have an interest in working for a nonprofit. Strong written, visual and communication skills required. Applicant must be able to take initiative and finish tasks promptly. Must have strong attention to detail. Students pursuing or graduates with a degree in studio art, museum studies, or arts administration desired.

Solo Exhibitions
Three artists will be selected from the ten finalists to receive solo exhibitions at The Print Center. Those artists will receive a $200 honorarium. (Pending funding, especially for international artists, this amount may increase) Artists are responsible for delivering or shipping their work to and from The Print Center and all related costs, including framing when appropriate. The Print Center will install and de-install work.

As They Prepare for Their 17th Annual Show

31 Studio artists to participate in what’s become one of Indianapolis’ best kept shopping
secret! This year’s show and sale to take place on October 13, 14 & 15, 2011.

Studio Showcase is a co-op of some 30 central Indiana artisans whose work includes textiles,
jewelry, ceramics, photography, painting, glass, wood and more. Once a year, member artists
gather to present their newest creations in an inviting, open house setting.
This year’s show will mark the group’s 17th Studio Showcase and will take place on:
Thursday, October 13, 2011 – 5pm to 9pm
Friday, October 14, 2011 – 10am to 8pm
Saturday, October 15, 2011 – 10am to 5pm

The show is located in Indianapolis’ Crows Nest area at 5914 Stafford Way, Indianapolis, IN
46228, the home of one of the artist members.

Three new artists juried into the group this spring: Painter - Cindy Cradler, Micro-Macramé
Jewelry Maker - Tatyana Fedorikhina, and Wood Worker – Tom Laird. Respectively their
work is pictured below.

The profit from the booth space fees will benefit the students in Perry Township schools in the form of scholarships and to maintain the continuation of the PTA Council.

Gallery at Fletcher Place Arts & Books (649 Virginia Avenue - Fletcher Place neighborhood near Fountain Square) is set to open in October and is currently seeking submissions for exhibitions starting in November. All Indiana-based emerging artists are strongly encouraged to apply. The Gallery at Fletcher Place Arts & Books will be an interactive gallery, complete with tables, chairs and art supplies to allow attendees to engage and respond to the art on display. A new exhibition will open every IDADA First Friday and be open to the public Fridays and Saturdays until the last week of the month.

Indianapolis Art Center Announces Fellowship Awardee

Indianapolis, IN (September 14, 2011) – The Indianapolis Art Center in conjunction with the Robert McKinney family, awarded Sofiya Inger the first-ever Skip McKinney Faculty of the Year Fellowship. The $20,000 fellowship is given to an Art Center faculty member who exhibits excellence in his/her art, teaching and in building community. About 30 Art Center faculty applied for the fellowship; Ms. Inger was selected from among nine finalists. The eight other honorees will receive $500 each. In addition to the cash award, Ms. Inger will receive a solo show in December 2012 featuring work she completes throughout the coming year.

In talking about the selection process, Robert McKinney, husband of Skip McKinney said, “I didn’t intend to be involved in the selection process initially, however, I am so glad I did because I had such a wonderful opportunity to learn about all the talented Indianapolis Art Center faculty,” he said. “All nine finalists exhibited amazing artistic talent, exemplary teaching expertise and remarkable efforts in building a community.” The award was created by the McKinney family to honor the legacy of Arlene “Skip” McKinney, long-time Art Center student, accomplished artist and community leader.

In receiving the fellowship, Ms. Inger said it represented particular significance for her. “I came to America in search of a community of like-minded people,” she said. She finds it odd that people ask her how she ended up in Indiana. “I don’t see that I ended up here. I see that I have found Indiana. The hospitality here is amazing. I have found many friends who support me. Not only do I have the support of friends, but I have support for my art. The Art Center is a community that supports artists,” she said.

Artist Member News: Idada Members Exhibit

IDADA had 38 submitting artists and 105 pieces reviewed. The Juror, Barry Blinderman selected 19 pieces for the show, which included Indianapolis Art Center Artists members Susan Hodgin and Dan Cooper, who was awarded first place for his painting, “Doppler”.

Artist Sought to Paint Portrait of Governor Mitch Daniels

Hoosier artists are invited to submit their applications to paint the official portrait of Governor Mitch Daniels. The Indiana State Museum will coordinate the selection process to determine the artist who will paint the 42-inch by 32-inch oil or acrylic work that is completed for each Indiana governor and will then become part of the historic governors' portrait collection, managed by the museum.

To be considered, applicants are required to:

• Be a resident or native of Indiana. Preference will be given to Indiana residents.

• Include a resume of past portrait experience and commissions, a list of work in public collections, past exhibitions, and art training.

• Provide an artist's statement about their approach to portrait painting. Specific ideas about the commission also may be included but are not required.

• Submit six to 10 digital color samples of their portrait work, including some detail. The work may be submitted using this web address: www.indianamuseum.org/portrait.

• Propose a fee amount for the commission. Historically, private fundraising is used for the commission and framing and the same practice will be followed for Daniels' portrait. Any remaining funds are maintained by the state museum for maintenance, preservation and exhibition of the collection.

Submission deadline is 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011. Finalists will be determined in November and the selected artist will be named by the end of the year. The painting will be completed by summer 2012 with the unveiling of the portrait expected by December, 2012.

Individual Artist Program Grant Set to Open this Fall

The Indiana Arts Commission's fiscal year 2013 Individual Artist Program (IAP) grant is set to open in early November. Eligible projects will only be considered in the areas of: crafts, design, media arts, photography, visual arts, and folk arts related to the traditional disciplines listed here.

General information about the IAP grant can be found on the IAC's website at http://www.in.gov/arts/individualartistprogram.htm; guidelines will also be posted on this web page once they are available. Interested artists can subscribe to this web page to receive emails when the page has been updated by clicking on the red exclamation point logo at the top of the page and entering their information.

As usual, the Indiana Arts Commission will partner with area arts organizations to present grant workshops around the state. These workshops will take place throughout November and December. This exhibition is a look at the art of the postcard. Exploring the physical documentation of place, narrative, and travel through the use of mail; artists are invited to create a postcard of any theme and send their artwork to Moberly Area Community College Graphic Art / Fine Art Gallery for exhibition. Postcards of any 2D media will be accepted. The constraints of size and weight of the postcard is determined by the USPS. No postcards will be returned unless the return postage is supplied to the gallery. Only the front of the postcard (the side without the address and postage) will be displayed. On the back please label with the artist’s name and a contact email. A grand prize of $150 and two $50 honorable mentions will be awarded. No entry fee.

Call For Entries: Gallery 924 Group Wood Show

Gallery 924 is seeking entries from central Indiana artists for a group show featuring artwork made of wood or work that incorporates wood or the idea of wood. If you carve wood, are a wood turner, paint on wood, create found object assemblages with wood, or create any type of artwork with the use of wood, we want to hear from you.

Wood has always been an artist’s tool used to build stretcher frames, paint brushes, carving tools, build maquettes, and hundreds of more uses. We would like to see how artists use the material as a finished artwork, not just as a tool to create.

Furniture designers are welcome to submit.

The group exhibition will be chosen by an internal selection committee and curated and installed by the Gallery 924 staff. The show will open with a public reception during the IDADA First Friday Gallery Tour on Friday, November 4 and remain up until Friday, November 25, 2011.

Work will be selected based on the quality of the work and the relevance to the theme of the show. Artists working in all styles are encouraged to submit, but work must be original, no Giclée prints or reproductions of any kind will be accepted. Work must have been completed within the last three years. If 2D, work must be framed (if appropriate), wired and ready to hang. There are no size restrictions on artwork. If your large-scale work is accepted into the show, the gallery staff will work with you to find a display solution.

All central Indiana artists over the age of 18 are welcome to submit. For these purposes, central Indiana is considered to be Marion and the seven surrounding counties.

Work must be delivered Monday, October 31 or Tuesday, November 1 and if not sold must be picked up on November 28 or 29, 2011. Artists are encouraged to attend the opening, but not required. Artwork will be insured by the gallery for the entirety of the time it is in the gallery.

2011 Fellowship Guidelines Announced for Contemporary Visual Artists in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio

Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) is now accepting applications for contemporary visual artists that reside in select cities and counties in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio . The Efroymson Family Fund, a donor-advised fund of CICF, will be awarding (5) $20,000 unrestricted awards to contemporary visual artists.

Eligibility Requirements
AGE 25 or older by September 2011
RESIDENT of select counties in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky or Ohio as of September 2010
Documentation providing full-time residency as of September 2010 is required
COMMITMENT to reside in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio or Kentucky during the duration of the one year fellowship (November 2011 - November 2012)

ELIGIBILITY
HxWxD was created in 2007 by the Rosewood Gallery as an opportunity for artists to exhibit their work and for the community to experience the quality and diversity currently being done in sculpture. In 2011, the show changed the eligibility to include artists living in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. All types of 3-D mediums are welcome, including: clay, wood, stone, fiber, metal, glass and mixed media. The work must be able to fit through the 34" x 79" doorway and must have been created within the last four years.

ENTRY PROCEDURE
Jurying will be done from digital files. Digital files should be no larger than 1000 ppi (72 dpi) at the largest measurement and must be named as follows: LASTNAME_A.JPG. Digital files can be sent on CD or e-mailed to: amy.anderson@ketteringoh.org. If e-mailed, you must put "LASTNAME _HWD ENTRY" in the subject line. Each 3-D work may be shown in up to 3 images, if needed. A non-refundable entry fee of $20 (total for up to 3 works) must accompany each entry form. Multiple entries are accepted. Checks should be made payable to the City of Kettering or you can call Rosewood Arts Centre and pay with credit card over the phone (937-296-0294). An e-mail address is required for notifications. Artists who are shipping their work are responsible for shipping charges both ways. Return shipping must be prepaid through a carrier with a prepaid label. If no such arrangements are made, the artwork will not be returned. Please indicate on the entry form if you are submitting a wall piece. All wall pieces must include proper hanging materials or instructions. All notifications, BOTH ACCEPTED AND DECLINED, will be sent by via e-mail (unless a SASE is provided).
OPENING RECEPTION
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. All artists and the public are invited to attend. United Art and Education Awards are presented at 3 p.m.

AWARDS AND SALES
The United Art and Education Awards (a total of $1,100) are presented at the discretion of the juror. Sales are encouraged, and a 30% commission will be retained from all purchases by the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, sponsor for Rosewood Gallery.

LIABILITY
Every precaution is taken in handling entries. All work is insured during the installation process and while the work is on display in the Rosewood Gallery. The Gallery Coordinator reserves the right to reject work if it violates any conditions set forth in this prospectus, or is unsafe to display for any reason.

PICK UP OF WORK
Upon completion of the show, exhibited work may be picked up by the artists on Saturday, December 10, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Monday, December 12, from noon to 7 p.m. If the artist wishes to delegate someone else to pick up the work, she/he must notify the Gallery Coordinator in advance. The Gallery will not be responsible for work remaining at Rosewood after December 31, 2011.

AGREEMENT
Submission of an entry to HxWxD constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to all the conditions set forth in this prospectus. The Rosewood Gallery reserves the right to reproduce accepted entries for publicity purposes.

Super Bowl weekend will coincide with the IDADA First Friday Art Tour on Friday February 3rd. The Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association (IDADA) will host a unique, visual arts event and pavilion in downtown Indianapolis. The IDADA Art Pavilion will be a public space for the presentation of installation, video and experiential works of art that will be a catalyst to promote and showcase the world-class talent that resides here in Central Indiana. IDADA is working closely with the Super Bowl Host committee, the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the Mayor’s office to make this event a reality.

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY

1. Open to anyone 18 years or older residing in any of the eight Great Lakes states.
(Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin)
2. 2D work must be no larger than 12″ on either side, including frame, if framed.
3. 3D work must be no larger than 12″ on any side and weight no more than 40 lbs.
4. Work must be completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited at Riverside Arts Center. No work under the supervision of an instructor is allowed. Works may be executed in any medium.
5. Artists may submit up to 3 entries total, even if entering both 2D & 3D.
DIGITAL IMAGES

1. All entries will be juried via digital images. Artists may submit one image for each 2D piece; 2 images for each 3D piece.
2. Images should be 300 ppi in JPG format and no larger than 6” (1800 pixels) on the longest side. (Images may be used for PR)
3. Image file name is to be in the following Format: LastName-FirstName-Title-Size.
Size: HxW for 2D, HxWxD for 3D (no inch marks)

Jennifer Seibert is an installation/video artist and associate professor of Drawing at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Michigan.

She holds an MFA in drawing and painting from Wichita State University and a BFA in drawing and painting from Kansas City Art Institute. She has shown work nationally and internationally. She has had solo exhibitions in Paris, France, Montecastello, Italy and throughout the United States. Jennifer has created two feature length films and several short films, many of which were made possible through research fellowships and grants. She has attended several residencies in Europe and has won multiple awards for both her installations and short films.

InLight Richmond will take place on Friday, October 21 in Richmond, VA, along the James River on a site that features the American Civil War Center at Tredegar Iron Works. The Zionsville Arts Initiative invites artists to display and sell their work at the Brick Street Art Walk, formerly called the Brick Street Gallery Walk. For the inauguration of the newly renamed event, the Zionsville Arts Initiative will be partnering with the Zionsville Merchants Association to feature more visual, performing, and literary arts than ever before.

This summer evening event is always much anticipated and well attended by both the local and surrounding communities. Musicians and entertainment add to the evening, encouraging art lovers to linger on Main Street. Merchants, galleries and restaurants are all open that night to celebrate and support the arts in Zionsville. Admission and parking are FREE.

There is NO CHARGE to artists. If you are able to, it is strongly suggested that you demonstrate your talent during the evening, since demonstrating artists always gather the largest crowds.

Artists will be paired with merchants and will set up in the (closed) street or on the sidewalk in front of their merchant. Physical space is limited; plan on room for your easel and some bins or bringing a four or six foot table if you display that way. No tents allowed.

The Arts Council of Indianapolis, in partnership with the Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival (IndyFringe), seeks visual artists to submit proposals for the 26-foot lightbox installation at the historic Survive Alive Fire Station (748 Massachusetts Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204).

A jury will select the artist, who will receive a fee of $2,000. The selected artwork will be printed to a size measuring 9 1/3 feet tall by 25 3/4 feet wide and be installed in the lightbox for at least 12 months.

IndyFringe will feature the selected work as part of its annual IndyFringe Festival, taking place from August 19-28, 2011. The Festival’s 2011 theme is “Light Up Our Lives.” Submitting artists have discretion as to whether to incorporate the theme into their proposed work. IndyFringe will highlight the selected work on the front cover of its 40,000 festival programs, buttons, posters, postcards, fliers, and website.

Applications will be accepted until April 4, 2011.

Artists specializing in all visual art forms and artistic styles are welcome to apply.

Submission forms are available at both websites for the Arts Council (indyarts.org) and IndyFringe (indyfringe.org).

· Artists can propose new or existing artwork for consideration.

· Artwork should be submitted digitally.

· Your original design may be inspired by or incorporate a range of materials and media such as sculpture, photographs, paint, paper, textile, or digital imagery, but, if selected, your final submission must still be a two-dimensional representation of these ideas, one that is available in a large, high-resolution file.

· For existing work, submit up to five images in JPG format. Images do not need to be high resolution, just good quality and no larger than 72 dpi and under 1MB each.

· For new work, submit sketches and mock-ups (up to five images in JPG format, no larger than 72 dpi and under 1MB each) along with a brief but detailed (50-100 word) description of your proposed piece. Selected artists creating new work are expected to make final submission by May 20, 2012.

· The submitting artist must produce the artwork, and the artist must own the copyright for the images or have permission to use copyrighted images in the design.

· The selected artist will give the Arts Council and IndyFringe limited use rights to use the artwork for the uses stated in this call as well as for additional promotional uses related to their programs. The artist retains full copyright of the work.

National Art Museum of Sport calls for entries in second annual competition

The National Art Museum of Sport is inviting sport artists to participate in its Second Annual International “Commitment to Excellence in Art and Sport: A Fine Art Competition” and exhibit.

Up to 50 paintings, sculptures, and photographs depicting sport selected by a jury will be exhibited at the Museum on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The exhibit is scheduled to open October 27, 2011, and close February 28, 2012.

Submissions to the competition are to be made through www.juriedartservices.com (click on the NAMOS logo to apply) and open March 1, 2011. The submission deadline is September 7, 2011. Entries are to be original art work and be submitted by digital images.

Eligible entries must have sports as a subject, whether individual or team, competitive or recreational, participant or spectator, remembered or studied, still life, figurative, or landscape. There are three categories: painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, or mixed media), sculpture (bronze, clay or composition, glass, stone, or wood) and photography. Except for entries in photography (which may be digital photography and manipulated) work must be produced by the “hand of the artist” – no digital or computer art.

Medals awarded to the top three winners in each category. Three $2,500 prizes will be awarded:

· The Germain G. Glidden Best in Show Award. The winning work will be added to the NAMOS permanent collection.

· The NCAA Honoring College Athletics and Academic Excellence award in painting.

· The NCAA Honoring College Athletics and Academic Excellence award in sculpture. While artwork depicting any sport or sport personality is considered for all other prizes, the jurors will only consider art depicting collegiate sport for the two NCAA-sponsored $2,500 prizes.

The National Art Museum of Sport, the nation’s premier collection of fine art depicting sport, was founded in 1959 in New York City by the late Germain G. Glidden, a portrait artist and national squash champion. Since Glidden made his dream of a fine arts museum depicting sports a reality 51 years ago, the role of sports in our society has become even more important. Sport art has grown into a genre of art that attracts well trained artists and eager fans. The National Art Museum of Sport is dedicated to encouraging and celebrating the best of this genre.

Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition
In December of 1944, the Swope's second director (1944-60), Dr. Allen Albert, and curator Hazel Dodge announced plans for a new and exciting annual exhibition where all artists of Terre Haute and vicinity could enter their work. They planned for it to become as permanent and noteworthy as the Hoosier Salon program, and the first Wabash Valley show opened May 6, 1945 to an outstanding attendance of 350 people.

Now in its 67th year, the Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition remains one of the Museum's most popular events, attracting a diverse array of artists and patrons alike. Because of this, it is safe to say Dr. Albert and Ms. Dodge achieved their goal of furthering the support and interest in Midwestern art.

This year’s distinguished juror is Janie Welker, curator at the University of Kentucky Art Museum, Lexington. Formerly of the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington, NY and the International Center of Photography in NY, she has also worked at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum and as an editor and reporter on the visual arts for various periodicals including Newsday. Welker received a bachelor of arts in journalism from Penn State and a masters in Art History from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

U.S. EPA Region 5 invites 6th-8th graders in IL, IN, MI, MN, OH and WI to participate in the Green and Healthy Schools Art Challenge.

To enter, create a drawing or a painting responding to the question, "What Makes a School Green and Healthy?" and submit your art and entry form. Your artwork must be one-dimensional and 11" X 17" or smaller. Winners will receive a plaque and other prizes in addition to having their artwork displayed on the U.S. EPA website.

Call for Artists, White River State Park Public Sculpture (Indianapolis, IN)

White River State Park is pleased to announce that it will continue to support an exterior sculpture exhibition program. The primary purpose of this exhibition is to enhance the artistic and cultural opportunities within the state. After each cycle, the Park has continued to make changes to the program. The program is now open to any sculptor in Indiana or the Midwest. While the Park will continue to display at least six large-scale interior sculptures reflecting diversity of materials, approaches and content on the Old washington Street Bridge (now a pedestrian walkway connecting venues on the east and west sides of the river) in White River State Park there have been a couple of changes. Rather than change out all of the sculptures every two years, only two sculptures will change every year and the period of time the work is displayed will be 3 years.

The Park is the only urban state park in the country and is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. The New York Times has referred to the Park as "Indianapolis' version of the Mall in Washington." In addition to acres of green spaces in the Park, it is also home to six major tourist attractions, with over 3 million visitors each year.

The work must be constructed of materials able to endure the conditions of an outdoor exhibition. The sculptures must be suitable for public display and not present safety issues. Artists must be 18 years or older. Each selected artist will be awarded a $5,000 honorarium for his or her participation. In addition, the Park will pay up to a maximum of $5,000 in expenses to help transport the sculpture to and from Indianapolis and the installation and removal of the piece from the park. 10-12 electronic images (labeled with name, medium, dimensions and date) on a CD of pieces of art available for the exhibition must be postmarked no later than January 28, 2011.

Also include the following: image annotation script; resume; artist's vision and thoughts in creating the sculpture; a self-addressed stamped envelope if CD is expected to be returned. “My first solo show in America, Looking at the Sky, took place in 1999 at the JCC and spoke about home lost and about change that was not easy. Only a few short years in Indiana, still trying to find ground under my feet and growing new roots, I found a place that was warm and friendly, a place full of life and a wonderful positive energy.” Working in acrylic on fabric and other mixed media, Sofiya’s work evokes feelings of master artist Marc Chagall. She paints emotions, and in the center of her work is still a human heart. Inger received her Fine Arts degree from the Kirov School of Art in Russia and studied textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) in New York City.

Indiana Coalition for the Arts Foundation Seeks Nominations

Indiana Coalition for the Arts Foundation, Inc. seeks nominations for their annual Community Arts Leadership Awards. INCAF will honor four outstanding Hoosiers for their part in advancing the cause of community and local arts in Indiana.

The award ceremony will be held in Indianapolis at the Statehouse on February 21, 2011 during the Arts Day celebration. Arts Day is an annual arts advocacy event presented by the Indiana Coalition for the Arts where the diversity and importance of the arts in the state is promoted and honored.

INCAF seeks to honor individuals who have contributed to the arts in four categories: Arts Administrator, Arts Educator, Arts Advocate, and Volunteer Board Member or Arts Leader.Award recipients and their respective nominators will be guests at the Arts Day event. Recipients are encouraged to bring family, friends and colleagues to participate in the Indiana Community Arts Leadership awards ceremony and Arts Day event.

The deadline to nominate an arts leader is January 14, 2011 and nominators must be members of the Indiana Coalition for the Arts or Indiana Coalition for the Arts Foundation.

The 2nd Annual Juried Photography Exhibition “Of Memory, Bone and Myth” is open to national artists of all levels (18 years and over). This exhibition is open to any photographic media except video. All photographs must be framed no larger than 28" x 30". This year's juror is Paul Cava, artist, collector, publisher and former owner of Paul Cava Gallery in Philadelphia. This exhibition will result in a full color exhibition catalogue to be produced with copies sent to all accepted participating artists.
